First impressions:
When I walked in, I was the second smallest person in the gym. Everyone was huge and built. They're all really chill and helpful though. One of the guys gave me some tips on nutrition and also in college. He told me what is best to eat, what I shouldn't eat, and the overall cost of weekly plans. My mentor Chris gave me some homework to turn in tomorrow. He wants me to write a few paragraphs on where I want to be (physically and mentally) short term and long term. Tomorrow, he might have me do a fitness test so he can see where I am at. What strikes me most is that I am becoming fit and learning how to at the same time. I will also learn what ways I can stay healthy and injury free. I am worried that I will be the weakest one in the gym or might be to brave and hurt myself.

Project Plan: I will be working under Kinesiologist and Physical Trainer Chris Gordert. Through out the externship experience, I will be working on my fitness. I will learn new exercises, nutrition plans, and how to prevent injuries. What are you most excited about? I am most excited about learning all the new exercises because I have some struggles with weight. I will be able to lose weight in a safe way and know why certain exercises are helping me. Internship Mentor: My internship mentor studied kinesiology in college. He also played football for SDSU. He is a physical trainer for a few NFL players and also trains other people at 24 Hour Fitness. |
