BOOK CLUB: A LONG WAY GONE
In the book A Long Way Gone by Ismael Beah, young Ismael lives a happy life. While in his grandmothers village the rebels attack. The rebels are a group of ordinary people who say they fight for a cause , to fight the tyranny of the army, but they are just as cruel. Ismael and his friends are captured by the rebels until they are attacked by the army and they escape. He reaches a village and he finds his family, when there the rebels attack again and him and his family split apart once again. Ismael and his friends escape and reach an army H.Q, the soldiers and the captain brainwash the kids there to join the army. Telling them that the rebels are bad people and they must kill any rebel they see because they have killed many people. Ismael is brainwashed and becomes a soldier himself. He turns in to a bloodthirsty killer. While in camp, the captain tells him that his duty as a soldier is done and he will go to school. Now it is up to Ismael to forgive himself for being a killer and to try to live a normal life again. What I thought about this book is that it is very emotional and graphic. Just reading a paragraph can change your whole perspective on war.

Throughout the years, news is heard that the Germans are losing, finally all workers and laborers in camps are free. This book makes you realize what really happened during WWll. It shows you the horrors of war and of the camps, reading this book almost makes you feel like you are in the situation he is in: Seeing people burn, get shot, and gassed. Even though it may seem hard to believe things like this happened, it was very real.
INTO THE WILD
In the book Into The Wild, a young adventurous man named Chris McCandless goes on a journey to Alaska. Even though he is well educated and very intelligent, he changes his name and chooses the life of a tramp and travels all over the U.S. Along the journey, he experiences life changing moments and things he only sees once in a lifetime. When reading this book it teaches you a lot about how much someone loves something. It also shows you how precious life is and that you shouldn't waste it and live life as much you can and the best you can.
The Bluest EYE
The Bluest Eye is about a young black girl named Pecola who has a hard time living in her community. Pecola always feels as if she is ugly and no one likes her. Even though the story is about Pecola, the story is in the view of Pecola's friend Claudia. The story is about the many different issues of social justice. Ranging from racism, domestic violence, and much more. With many issues, Pecola experiences many different issues in her life. When I was reading this book it made me very uncomfortable at some parts. Especially the parts when there was sex or violence. A lot of it also made me very sad when it talked about Pecola's struggles and other people's struggles. Overall I think is book was kind of boring at some parts but good at other times.
